black eyed peas and corn chowder

Since Aaron is on a break from school, he's in charge of dinner now, which is awesome because I don't have to do anything. Getting him the Homesick Texan cookbook for his birthday was the best idea I've ever had.

Even if he sometimes makes gross things... I just can't get into black eyed peas. Some southerner I am.

Blackeyed peas aren't for everyone. I love them, but I love all beans.

I tried my hand at growing cow peas, which are the Calfornia version of blackeyed peas, and they did quite well. I have about two cups of peas that I got off about 8 plants, and I probably let about that many get lost in the early rain we had here.

Now I have to "google" the Homesick Texan cookbook. Sounds interesting!
